RGP Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)
The Regional Growth Partnership (RGP) brings together the economic development efforts of 15 towns in the greater New Haven region. In 2002, CERC was approached by RGP to work with Mount Auburn Associates to produce a detailed analysis of economic structure, industry performance and demographic change. CERC was again asked to complete the CEDS 5-year update to continue applying for federal funding. The most recent report is currently available for public review at www.rgp-ct.org.
RGP needed help developing a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) in order to apply for federal funding.
CERC’s research showed that certain towns were becoming more disadvantaged and that a disparity between wealthy and poor towns was increasing, resulting in a growing inequity in the region. CERC and Mount Auburn provided comprehensive written reports that finalized the analysis and key findings. CERC also produced a variety of maps showing different special views of the area, in addition to completing community benchmarks.
The completed CEDS was approved by the federal government and as a result, RGP received funding to improve regional workforce and infrastructure. The findings from the analysis also helped the organization develop future strategies.
